"West Virginia is wild and wonderful," he said. "So we want land, trees, and a lot of sun so you can feel like you're somewhere on a lake even when you're right here in the restaurant."
Su-Tei will have Japanese offerings, like sushi and teriyaki dishes, as well as Thai dishes like curry and Pad Thai. But it's the combination of the two that Purwanto hopes will make Su-Tei stand out, thanks to its fusion dishes such as udon curry.
The prices range from around $10 for chicken teriyaki dishes up to around $30 for lobster or filet mignon.
Su-Tei will have live entertainment on Monday and Wednesday nights and feature a DJ on Fridays and Saturdays.
As final inspections and finishing touches are put on the restaurant, Purwanto hopes to be open within the next few weeks.
Su-Tei is hiring servers, food runners and bus boys. Those interested can stop by the restaurant between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to fill out an application.
Su-Tei is located in Kanawha City at 5711 MacCorkle Ave. SE. The kitchen will be open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, and the bar will stay open an hour later until 11 p.m. On the weekend, the kitchen will be open from 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., and the bar will stay open until 1 a.m.
