Alderson and his wife, Sandra, were to leave their Charleston home on Saturday and head for Nashville where they will be closer to family.
Their daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Larry Butler of Atlanta, are the parents of Jean-Ann, 25, and twins, Beau and Belle, who are 2 1/2 years old. Their son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Rachel Alderson, live in Nashville and are the parents of 9-month-old Everly.
"We have no special plans," he said. "I hope for a good while to have a different lifestyle and not do anything."
However, he imagines he will be doing some teaching at a church where his son attends.
Sandra Alderson will pursue her interest in researching the history of the Church of Christ.
Living in Nashville "puts us much closer to Atlanta," he added. "It will give us more time with those grandchildren."
Alderson, a native of St. Albans, has served churches in Memphis, Tenn. and Franklin, Ky. He has also served churches in Clarksburg and Parkersburg. He holds an undergraduate degree from Lipscomb University in Nashville and a master's from Harding School of Theology in Memphis.
