Their wines are sold on site as well as at Capitol Market in Charleston, stores throughout West Virginia, and fairs and festivals. Prices range from $10 to $22.50. Craig's sister, Carol Pyle, has a tasting room at her shop, Whitehouse Antiques on Grand Central Avenue in Vienna.
A lot of expertise and knowledge goes into winemaking.
"We are making a product from nature's product," Craig said. "The sugar comes from the grapes. It depends on how your grapes did this year and the specie of the grape."
He said it takes simple lab work to determine whether the grapes are sweet enough for picking. When the time is right, the entire family helps to pluck the juicy fruit from the vines.
The Bandys have been married 36 years and have five grown children and two grandchildren. When it's time to pick the grapes, everyone gathers at the farm.
Their son Christopher and wife Mollie are the parents of Amelia, 6, and Sidra, 3. Son Kenton is married to Rachel. Their other children are Kimberly, Katherine, and Kyler.
Candice said the family works so hard on the farm that days pass before someone points out they have not had one glass of wine.
Aside from the farm, the Bandys also own a print and copy center in Vienna. Their dream is to expand WineTree Vineyards so they may focus only upon that business.
Fall is a busy time of year as people like to visit when the area is rich in colorful leaves. The holidays are also busy with people in search of quality homegrown gifts.
