Holiday donation program for foster kids starts

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A program that gives luggage, duffel bags and personal-care items to children transitioning to foster care is seeking donations.

The Carry On Campaign is starting its Thanksgiving holiday collection drive in southern West Virginia on Friday.

The campaign supports children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. Collected items are distributed by Mission West Virginia.

Other donated items can include non-perishable snacks, stuffed animals, brushes and combs, blankets, and crayons and coloring books.

Items can be dropped off at designated collection points around the state.

Other campaign partners include the office of U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin, the West Virginia Children's Home Society, the state Drug Endangered Children Task Force and the Department of Health and Human Resources.
