And all that talk of popcorn got me thinking about an off-the-wall recipe I shared years ago for "Peanuts & Cracker Jack Salad."
As in actual Cracker Jacks in an actual salad.
But the combination of sweet caramel corn, salty peanuts, tart mandarin oranges and tangy poppy seed dressing atop a crisp wedge of iceberg lettuce actually works.
Don't buy it? I've included the recipe again this week for all you doubters. Super simple, so good.

Peanuts & Cracker
1 head iceberg lettuce
1 cup Cracker Jacks, or other caramel-coated popcorn
1 can (11 oz.) mandarin orange segments, drained
1/4 cup salted peanuts
1/2 cup poppy seed dressing
1. Core lettuce, then rinse and drain well. Cut crosswise into four even slices.
2. Top with Cracker Jacks, orange segments and peanuts, then drizzle with dressing.
Makes 4 servings.
