By all accounts, Charleston's first-ever Restaurant Week was a resounding success, with participating restaurants reporting packed houses and guests lighting up social media to praise all the great food and service they enjoyed.
Seriously, if you want to get a quick shot of local pride, just spend a few minutes reading through some of the chest-puffing posts on the "Charleston WV Restaurant Week" Facebook page or @eatlocalcwv on Twitter.
Despite all the hits we've taken lately, it'll remind you there's still a lot to love about Charley West.
From Restaurant Week's official Facebook page: "Customers have said 'delicious,' 'fun' and 'my new favorite,' with venues using words like 'slammed,' 'awesome' and 'better than we imagined.'
"After serving 150 patrons on a cold Monday night in January, one manager went so far as to say . . . 'I think I can rest at ease that my staff is getting back on their feet financially.' We are so glad to hear news like this."
Amen to that.
I loved reading all the comments from folks trying out restaurants for the first time.
"Had dinner at Paterno's last my night and my date and I where both very impressed," said Alan Legg. "The food was excellent, Nick our waiter was very good and his suggestion on the wine was great. I'm not a wine drinker, but had a couple of glasses. All in all a great dining experience and we'll definitely be back."
I also enjoyed hearing from those who visited multiple spots during the week . . .
Samantha Alise Masley wrote: "Monday I had Bridge Road Bistro, Tuesday was South Hills Market & Café, Thursday was Soho's and tonight is Paterno's!"
And the buzz kept coming. . .
"Restaurant Week in three words?" Robb Major wrote. "Eat. At. Noah's"
Added Ric Cavendar: "Next Restaurant Week stop: Vandalia Grille. Another packed house. What a success."
Restaurants felt the same way, with at least one extending their special "three course for $30" menu offerings even after the week ended.
