Pet Blessing: A pet blessing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, at Cross of Grace Lutheran Church in Hurricane. Participants will meet in the rear of the church for a brief service, followed by the blessing of pets. All pets are welcome to attend and receive a blessing. The Cross of Grace Youth Group will provide treats for all pets. Representatives of the Putnam County Animal Shelter will be in attendance welcome any donations of supplies or money to the shelter. Cross of Grace is located below the Walmart in Hurricane.

Greenes Concert: The Greenes will be in concert at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1401 Washington St., W., Charleston at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7. Book Club: The St. John United Methodist Church Book Club of Scott Depot will have a meeting at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, in the church library. Fall Festival: St. Patrick's Catholic Church will have their annual fall festival at 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 12 and 13. The festival will include rummage for all ages, hot dogs and all the trimmings, popcorn, funnel cakes, crafts, raffles and more. Take-out orders can be placed by calling 304-586-3485. St. George Dinner: St. George Orthodox Cathedral, Court and Lee streets, Charleston, will have their annual dinner in the conference center from noon to 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 7. A $14 donation is requested. Carry-out orders will be available. Ethnic groceries will be sold in the church's lower level. Diners are invited to tour the sanctuary. Revival: Revival services with the Rev. Jerry Bonnett will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 29 through Nov. 2 at Community Chapel Church, Waycross Drive and Big Tyler Road in Cross Lanes. Call 304-776-1091 for more information.

Scouting Programs: Milton Baptist Church sponsors Cub Scouts for boys in grades one through five. The meetings are from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday evenings. Milton Baptist also sponsors a Boy Scout program for boys in grades six through 12. The Boy Scouts meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays.

Yard Sale: A "rain or shine" yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 at Winfield United Methodist Church, 20 Radwin Drive, Winfield. Donations of items have come from three churches. Proceeds will go toward mission trips to Haiti in November and Guatemala in June. Concessions will be available. Mini-Health Fair: Thomas Health Systems will be having a mini health fair at 8 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at the Winfield United Methodist Church, 20 Radwin Drive, Winfield. Fifty free flu shots will be administered, first come, first served. Various lab tests will be available, including Complete Blood Count, Lipids, HBA1c, Tsh and PSA. Fall Bazaar: The Winfield United Methodist Women are sponsoring their annual fall bazaar at Winfield United Methodist Church (behind Winfield McDonald's) on Friday, Oct. 12, and Saturday, Oct. 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Stop by and browse the vendor section for a variety of crafts and other items for purchase and then enjoy a wide selection of concessions (including homemade soups). A health fair will be held on Friday. Proceeds from the bazaar help the WUMW sponsor several community projects throughout the year. Vendor spaces are available for rent. Christian Community Cupboard: The Christian Community Cupboard, operated under the direction of the Teays Valley Ministerial Association, is located behind the Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church, 2843 Virginia Ave., Hurricane. The Cupboard is open on Tuesday and Friday of each week from 10 a.m. to noon. Cookbooks: The Winfield United Methodist Women's group is selling cookbooks to raise funds for mission projects, including the backpacks for foster children project. Poca Food Pantry: Five Loaves Two Fish Food Pantry, located in the Poca United Methodist Church, 112 Silver St., Poca, is open to serve the people on the north side of Putnam County (Buffalo to 28th Street, Nitro). The pantry is open on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, from 9 a.m. to noon, unless otherwise noted. For information, call 304-755-7341 or 304-755-2911.
