Father, son safe after barge hits fishing boat on Kanawha River

A man who also was boating in the Kanawha River, in the background, towed the small fishing boat to shore after it was struck by a barge near Haddad Riverfront Park late Thursday evening. The two men inside, a father and son from Sissonville, were able to jump into the river before the boat was struck. They were not injured.

A Sissonville father and son were fishing late Thursday in this fishing boat near Haddad Riverfront Park in Charleston when it was struck by a passing barge. The two men jumped from their boat before the barge struck it and were able to swim to safety.
