Nicholas County crash kills woman
MOUNT LOOKOUT, W.Va. -- A North Carolina woman was killed after a single vehicle crash in Nicholas County.
Sgt. R.T. Allison of the Nicholas Sheriff's Office was dispatched about 10 a.m. Wednesday to assist at a single vehicle crash on U.S. 19 near Mount Lookout.
Linda Warren Booth, 68, of Hayesville, N.C., had been heading south on U.S. 19 in her Chevrolet Venture minivan when she ran off the road, according to an accident report released by deputies. She ran into the median and while trying to correct the van lost control and struck the guardrail. Deputies said the vehicle then rolled three times before coming to rest on its top. Deputies said Linda Booth was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband 74-year-old James E. Booth, who had been riding in the vehicle, was removed from the van and flown via HealthNet to Charleston Area Medical Center's General Hospital in Charleston. He was in serious condition Wednesday afternoon.
