An elderly Boone County man was killed Friday when he pulled his southbound car into a northbound lane of U.S. 119 in Julian and was struck by another vehicle, authorities said.
A passenger in the man's car was injured.
The crash occurred around 9:10 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 119 and Camp Creek Road, near the Donald R. Kuhn Juvenile Detention Center in Julian, according to a press release from the Boone County Sheriff's Office.
Elisha Moore, 86, of Ridgeview, was attempting to enter a southbound lane of the highway but instead pulled his 1997 Buick into the northbound lane, according to the release. His car was then struck by a 2008 Chevrolet pickup driven by Danny Riggs, 52, of Crooksville, Ohio.
Investigators say Riggs did not have time to apply his brakes before hitting Moore's car.
Moore was dead at the scene.
Mary Eloise Hubbard, 81, of Ridgeview was riding in Moore's vehicle and sustained injuries. Hubbard was flown by HealthNet to Charleston Area Medical Center's General Hospital.
Her condition was not available early Friday.
Riggs and his passenger were not injured.
Police say charges likely will not be filed in the crash.
