A Nitro man who was struck by a vehicle is in critical condition at a local hospital.
It happened just before 11 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of 39th Street and W.Va. 25, Nitro Patrolman Ray Blake said.
Leonard Simpson walked out into W.Va. 25 at 39th Street and was struck by a passing vehicle. The driver of the vehicle stopped and remained at the scene with Simpson.
Simpson was taken to Charleston Area Medical Center's General Hospital, where he remains in the intensive care unit.
Blake said the driver, whose name has not been released, was not cited.
