PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - A grand jury says three Wood County deputies involved in a fatal shooting acted appropriately.
In a recent report, the Wood County grand jury says no criminal laws were violated in the death of Jody Wilson.
The deputies shot the 32-year-old Lubeck man on March 18 during a standoff at his parents' home.
According to the report, Wilson left the residence armed with a rifle and a holstered handgun. He charged at the officers with the rifle raised and shouted obscenities. The officers tried to retreat and Wilson fired at them.
Wood County Sheriff Jeff Sandy tells the Parkersburg News and Sentinel (http://bit.ly/PJ391p ) that he's proud of how the deputies handled themselves.
