A Clendenin man was transported to an area hospital following an early morning shooting at his home, authorities said.
Deputies were dispatched shortly after midnight to Charleston Area Medical Center's General Hospital after Robin White, 60, told medical personnel he had been shot, according to a news release from Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.
White told deputies he was awakened by his dogs barking and went outside on his front porch to investigate. He saw a white male in his 30s or 40s with an unshaven face. The intruder reportedly pushed him to the floor, shot him in the leg with an unknown type of firearm, and then fled.
White phoned a nearby relative who transported him from his home on Wednesday Lane to the hospital.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office at 304-357-0169.
