CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Trial again has been postponed for a Putnam man who was arrested after he attacked a South Charleston policeman two years ago.
Travis Eugene Lattea, 31, of Scott Depot allegedly encountered off-duty patrolman Matt Holly while he was eating at Quaker Steak & Lube restaurant at Southridge Centre.
Police said he came up behind the officer just before midnight on March 23, 2010, hit him on the back of the head, knocking him unconscious, and fled with his gun.
Kanawha Circuit Judge Paul Zakaib agreed to allow defense attorney Ed Rebrook more time to prepare for trial. That date, which has been postponed several times, is now set for March 4.
Authorities said Lattea made off with the officer's personal gun, badge and wallet. Lattea is charged with first-degree robbery.
