Man walks into hospital with gunshot wound to leg
Charleston police are searching for answers after a man walked into a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.
Lt. Chuck Sisson said the man, whose name has not been released, walked into Charleston Area Medical Center's Women and Children's Hospital Thursday afternoon with a single gunshot wound to the leg.
Sisson said officers responded to the hospital and spoke with the man, who was cooperative. He said the victim is not from the area.
He could not immediately tell officers where the shooting occurred other than it occurred on the West Side.
Detective James Hunt secured a search warrant for an apartment on Buchanan Street near Indiana Avenue. Officers were searching that apartment Thursday. No arrests had been made in the shooting as of Thursday evening.
