A Mason County man convicted on drug and firearms charges will spend a decade in federal prison.
David Michael Persons, 50, of West Columbia was found guilty in August. Evidence showed Persons sold heroin to a confidential informant working for State Police in March 2010.
The transactions occurred at Persons' West Columbia home. Troopers searched his home in April 2010 and seized heroin, digital scales, a .22-caliber rifle and a .410 gauge shotgun.
He was prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm because of a January 2007 conspiracy conviction in Mason County. State Police conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua Hanks handled prosecution.
