MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — An Eastern Regional Jail inmate faces charges of beating a corrections officer who ordered him to put on a shirt.
The Journal (http://bit.ly/QILVWz ) reports that 29-year-old Jeremy Allen Billings is charged with felony malicious assault on a government representative.
According to court records, the corrections officer suffered multiple lacerations to the right side of his face during the Saturday night incident and was taken a hospital in Martinsburg. The officer wasn't identified.
Another corrections officer who was in a tower viewing the area told investigators that Billings hit the victim multiple times with his fist and the victim's radio.
Billings also was injured during the incident and was taken to the hospital. He was returned to the jail following his release.
