A routine call on a man on home confinement resulted in him being taken to jail on drug charges.
Deputy M. Hammack made a random visit to 40-year-old Michael Antonio Smith's home at 5302 Raven Drive in Rand at 8 p.m. Saturday when he discovered marijuana already packaged for sale, said Capt. Sean Crosier, of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.
The packaged marijuana found in a bathroom drawer weighed about six ounces with a street value of $2,000. Cash in the amount of $600 was also recovered.
Hammack was assisted in retrieving the evidence by Deputy J.R. Coulter.
Smith was taken to South Central Regional Jail. He faces charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and violation of home confinement.
