Authorities are searching for two suspects in an attempted robbery that occurred at 122 1/2 Maryland Ave. just outside the city limits of St. Albans at 4:30 am. Monday, said Capt. B.C. Robbins of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.
Taylor Womack, 18, told authorities that he, his girlfriend, their child and another woman were sleeping at the residence when two men entered through an unlocked window. The two men reportedly brandished handguns and wore bandanas that partially covered their faces. However, Womack told authorities he believed he recognized them.
At some point, the child escaped the residence and called 911. The suspects then fled without taking any items of value. As the suspects escaped, a shot was fired that penetrated the exterior front wall of the residence and lodged in a bedroom wall. No injuries were reported. Deputy J.W. Eary responded to the scene.
The Kanawha Bureau of Investigation is looking into the incident.
