CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Charleston police officers have arrested a man who allegedly said he had a bomb in his shoe at a Kanawha City apartment complex Friday afternoon.
Officers arrested John Workman, 41, of Charleston, on a felony charge of making a bomb threat, said Lt. C.E. Sisson of the Charleston Police Department.
Officers received a call that Workman had threatened the management of Kanawha Village Apartments at 3907 MacCorkle Ave. SW during an altercation at the complex about 12:22 p.m., Sisson said.
"He made some kind of threat that he had a bomb in his shoe," Sisson said.
Workman attempted to leave the facility before officers arrived, Sisson said, but officers detained him as he was leaving.
Officers found no bomb or other weapons on Workman, Sisson said. Workman did live at the apartment complex, he said.
However, the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department bomb squad was called to the scene, Sisson said.
