Authorities say Kanawha man broke into quarry

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Kanawha County is behind bars  on charges he broke into a quarry.

Deputies were dispatched Sunday to Mazella Quarries on Oakhurst Drive near Charleston. The owner reported he saw a man clad in enter a trailer on the property, Cpl. Brian Humphreys said in a release.

The man fled into the woods when the owner approached. The owner then called 911.

Deputy J. Hatfield and Cpl. J. Cochran went to the scene and searched the woods, following fresh boot prints in the snow for about three miles, Humphreys said.

The suspect, identified as Tommy Edward Clark, 37, was later found at a home on Washington Street. His clothes matched the description.

Clark was charged with breaking and entering. He remains at South Central Regional Jail on $10,000 bond.
