Woman runs from home; troopers discover gunshot holes

West Virginia State Police troopers arrested a man after a domestic disturbance.

A Walton resident told emergency responders that her husband was extremely drunk and threatened to kill her with a firearm. She also said that as she ran out of the house she heard several gunshots, according to a news release from the State Police.

About 3 a.m. today, Trooper J. M. Bragg and Cpl. J. T. Portillo of the Spencer detachment of the State Police, along with two Roane County deputies, arrived at he home at  289 Payne Ridge Road, in Walton. 

Bragg observed several gunshot holes on the outside of the residence, according to the news release.  

The West Virginia State Police Special Response Team was mobilized while a wanton endangerment warrant was obtained from a Roane County magistrate. 

about 11 a.m., suspect Robert Sherrill, 34, exited the residence and surrendered without incident. He was transported to the Central Regional Jail to await arraignment. 

Once they went inside the residence, Troopers discovered several gunshot holes there as well.
