The State Fire Marshal's office is working to determine what caused a fatal fire in Boone County on Sunday.
Whitesville firefighters were dispatched early Sunday to a mobile home in Poplar Woods in Boone County.
Assistant Chief David Hodges said the fire was heavily involved when firefighters arrived. A man and a woman at the scene told firefighters they lived there but that a third person, an 18-year-old man, didn't make it out.
Firefighters found Rocky Steele's body in the middle of the home in what was believed to be the living room while battling the blaze. The body was taken to the office of the state Medical Examiner for identification and autopsy.
The woman at the scene was taken to a local hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
Hodges said no other injuries were reported.
Investigators from the fire marshal's office were working at the scene Sunday.
Hodges said a cause had not yet been determined, though an update to the state Fire Marshal's Twitter account was posted Sunday saying the fire appears to be accidental, and possibly smoking-related.
