Man pleads not guilty in 71-year-old woman's burglary and assault
A Charleston man accused of assaulting a senior citizen while robbing her home on Christmas has pleaded not guilty in Kanawha Circuit Court.
Thomas Alvin Hager, 41, is charged with burglary, grand larceny, battery and battery on a government representative. He is in United States custody since he was on Federal parole when the December crime occurred.
The 71-year-old victim, a Kanawha Boulevard East resident, locked herself in a room in her home while her home was burglarized by three suspects in the middle of the night.
She called police, who arrived while the burglary was still in process. Hager is accused of pushing the woman down and injuring her.
Hager fled from police but was captured. He injured the officer during the capture. He pleaded guilty to all charges in court Wednesday. His trial is set for April 29.
