HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Investigators in Wayne County are continuing the search for the remains of a Marshall University student who was slain more than 10 years ago.
Media reports say West Virginia State Police and the FBI began searching Wednesday for the remains of Samantha Burns on land near train tracks and an intersection near West Virginia 75.
Burns was last seen Nov. 11, 2002, at the Huntington Mall. Her torched car later was found on a rural road in Wayne County.
Brandon Basham and Chadrick Fulks were convicted of killing the 19-year-old student in November 2002 during a 17-day crime spree after they escaped from a Kentucky jail.
They were sentenced to life in prison for her murder, and they are awaiting execution for a slaying in South Carolina.
