CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Mink Shoals man was arrested Tuesday morning after allegedly firing several shots that went through the walls of his home and into neighbors' houses, authorities said.
Aaron Shaffer, 27, of 174 Dutch Road in Mink Shoals will face at least one charge of wanton endangerment, said Capt. Sean Crosier of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.
About 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, neighbors reported hearing gunshots coming from the Shaffer home and some said shots hit their houses, Crosier said.
"We sent officers quickly," he said. "He was already outside knocking on doors."
Officers found Shaffer walking along Dutch Road with a shotgun.
Sometime during the night, Shaffer had reported prowlers around his house but Crosier does not know if the shootings were related to that report.
Shaffer was arrested without incident and was to be arraigned in Kanawha County Magistrate Court Tuesday morning."Deputies noticed Shaffer had barricaded the doors of his house and became concerned of potential booby traps/improvised explosive devices since many times they are found together," Crosier said. "At this time, the KCSO Bomb Squad is awaiting a search warrant to search Shaffer's home for evidence and render the home safe."
