Weston council bans synthetic drugs in city limits
WESTON, W.Va. -- Sellers of bath salts and other synthetic drugs aren't welcome in Weston.
City Council unanimously approved an ordinance this week that bans synthetic drugs within the city limits.
Mayor Julia Spelsberg tells The Exponent Telegram (http://bit.ly/13TOoU0 ) that a head shop planned on the city's outskirts prompted the ordinance.
The shop didn't open. Spelsberg says the city will be ready if the issue comes up again.
Violators of the ordinance would face a $500 fine.
City councils in Shinnston and Clarksburg have adopted similar bans.
