Firefighters are investigating after a fatal fire on Charleston's West Side over the weekend.
Assistant Chief Rob Sutler said firefighters were dispatched about 4:30 a.m. to Agsten Manor where a fire had been reported in a third floor apartment.
Firefighters found the flames were confined to a single room in the apartment and were able to extinguish it quickly. They found the male resident dead in his recliner, Sutler said.
The assistant chief said the fire originated in the area where the man, whose name has not yet been released, was found. Sutler said investigators were at the scene early Sunday.
A cause has not yet been released on the fire. The man's body was taken to the state Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
Sutler said it did not appear the building was evacuated.
No other injuries were reported.
