CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Boone County man who was severely beaten and robbed in downtown Charleston last week is recovering from his injuries, authorities said.
And although John Dolin, 37, of Peytona is talking to officers about the events leading up to his assault, Charleston Police do not yet have a suspect in the case, Sgt. Eric Hodges said.
"At least he is conscious now and he can talk to us," Hodges said. "He's been able to give a little more information to detectives."
Dolin was found lying in an alley off Quarrier Street early Friday.
He was unresponsive and it was obvious from evidence at the scene that he had been robbed, Lt. Steve Cooper said in a previous interview.
His wallet was found lying out and emptied of cash, Cooper said earlier.
A patrolman found Dolin lying in the alley, which runs between Quarrier and Lee streets and is parallel to Capitol Street, about 6:30 a.m. Friday. He was about 50 feet from the Quarrier Street entrance.
He was last seen in Sam's Uptown Cafe, a downtown bar, about 2 a.m., Cooper said.
