CHARLESTON, W.Va. - A New York man was arrested after police found heroin and cash in a Fayette County home.
Reginald Louis Thomas, 38, of Elmsford, N.Y., was arrested Tuesday and charged with felony delivery of a controlled substance, conspiracy, and transporting controlled substances into the state.
Officers from the Central West Virginia Drug Task Force, Fayette Sheriff's Department, and State Police served a search warrant at a home in the Harvey area, which is near Glen Jean. Officers secured the warrant after making several undercover buys at the house, according to a statement by the sheriff's department.
They found $300 in heroin and $5,000 cash inside.
"Drugs are a major problem in our communities," Sheriff Steve Kessler said in the statement.
"The officers assigned to the Central WV Drug Task Force are working diligently to get these drug dealers off the streets of our communities, but we need the help and support of our local citizens to make our efforts more effective.
"If you suspect someone of engaging in drug trafficking, please let us know so that we can focus our investigative efforts towards catching these criminals."
Thomas was arraigned in Fayette Magistrate Court. He's being held at Southern Regional Jail on $140,000 bond.
The case remains under investigation.
