Charleston man gets prison time for child porn
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Charleston man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for child pornography.
Jonathan Douglas Layne, 54, will also serve an additional 20 years on supervised probation. Layne pleaded guilty earlier this year and was sentenced Wednesday by U.S. District Judge John T. Copenhaver Jr.
Layne collected more than 600 images and videos of children having sex or performing sexual acts. He lived in St. Albans at the time.
He was previously convicted in 1989 in Kanawha Circuit Court of first-degree sexual abuse involving a minor victim. U.S. District Attorney Booth Goodwin said that since January 2012, 22 defendants have been convicted as part of his initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. Twenty of those have been sentenced to a total of more than 90 years.
