Blaze destroys East Bank home

By From staff reports

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Firefighters responded to a blaze in East Bank on Tuesday morning that completely destroyed a home, said Kanawha County Fire Coordinator C.W. Sigman.

The residents made it safely out of the house with no injuries, he said.

The fire was reported at 5:17 a.m. when the residents awoke to a beeping sound from a smoke alarm, he said.

"The two closest fire hydrants had hardly any flow," said Sigman, who added officials are checking to see what the problem may be.

He said the home was destroyed. Firefighters were still on the scene at 9 a.m. The cause of the fire is unknown.
