Man hospitalized after being hit by vehicle

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - A Fayette County man was hospitalized after a vehicle struck him Sunday evening near Meadow Bridge High School.

The vehicle fled the scene but was apprehended by police a few miles from the scene.

Police have identified the victim as Zack Allen Zink, 20, of Meadow Bridge. He was transported to Raleigh General Hospital. His condition is unclear.

The suspect's name has not been released, but officials have confirmed the driver is from the local area. The investigation is ongoing, and charges have not yet been filed.

In a statement, Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler said authorities were "getting conflicting stories from the involved parties."

"The preliminary investigation indicates that there may have been some sort of incident between the two involved parties just prior to this incident in which Mr. Zink was allegedly struck by the vehicle."

Anyone with information on the event is being asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 304-574-4216 or Crime Stoppers at 304-255-7867.
