CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A duplex on Charleston's West Side was destroyed in an early morning fire leaving five people displaced.
Charleston firefighters responded to the two-story home in the 300-block of Delaware Avenue just after 3:15 a.m. Tuesday.
Two women and a boy were in the upstairs apartment but managed to escape when the fire broke out in the living room at the front of the first floor apartment, said Capt. Ken Tyree.
Two men live in the downstairs apartment but they were not home when the fire started.
The house was fully involved when firefighters arrived. Tyree said the cause of the fire was undetermined as of Tuesday evening.He said investigators still were interviewing witnesses and had not yet confirmed their accounts. No injuries were reported in that fire.
