Huntington man killed trying to stop rolling van
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Police say a Huntington man as killed when he tried to stop a minivan as it rolled down his steep driveway.
The victim's name was not immediately released, but local television station WSAZ said the man was Dr. Hossein Hadi, a retired physician in Huntington.
Huntington Police Cpl. Gary Queen tells The Herald-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/11ESyIP ) that the man's wife had just arrived home and exited the vehicle Thursday afternoon when it started to roll toward the street. The man, who had been home waiting for his wife to arrive, got stuck under the minivan when he tried to stop it. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Queen says incidents like this rarely happen. He acknowledged that the steep topography and close proximity to other homes increased the chance somebody else might have been hurt, but said it would have been best to let the vehicle go.
