By From staff reports

The body of a 26-year-old man who police say was shot to death was discovered near a Dumpster in Mink Shoals Saturday morning.

Cpl. B.D. Humpreys of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office said a call came in about 8:30 a.m. for a report of a person on the ground near John Wesley Drive. Deputies and medical personnel responded, but found Shane Patrick Henry, of Charleston, dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

Humpreys said detectives secured the crime scene and began their investigation this morning.

"Some neighbors reported hearing noises similar to gunshots or firecrackers in the early morning hours," Humpreys said in a news release. "However, no calls were placed to Metro 911."

The victim's name is not being released yet, pending notification of his family. Anyone with information on the murder is asked to call detectives at 304-357-0169. Anonymous tips can also be submitted online at www.kanawhasheriff.us/.
