Suspect in Rand home invasion arrested in Tennessee

By From staff reports

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A man wanted in connection with a home invasion robbery in Rand last week was arrested by police in Nashville, Tenn.

Tevin Christopher "Smook" Williams, 19, of Rand, turned himself in to Nashville police on Sunday, said Cpl. Brian Humphreys of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.

Williams was wanted on an armed robbery warrant. Police believe Williams broke into a home on Elaine Drive in Rand on June 11.

The victim told deputies that a man knocked on his door, asked to use the phone and then pushed his way inside the home. Once inside he fired a gun into the wall, demanded cash and drugs, and then fled the scene.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Detectives are still investigating whether there is a connection between this crime and other recent, similar robberies in Rand, Humphreys said. He said deputies are working with Kanawha County prosecutor Mark Plants to have Williams extradited to West Virginia.
