CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The Charleston teen accused of shooting another teen in front of the Town Center mall turned himself in to police.
Shaquille Dominique Burton, 19, is facing felony charges of malicious wounding and wanton endangerment stemming from Monday's incident that left another local teen with a gunshot wound to his arm.
"He turned himself in to Sgt. Keith Peoples at about 3:45p.m. today," Lt. Steve Cooper, Charleston's chief of detectives, said Thursday. "When he arrived at the station he didn't want to talk to detectives."
Burton was processed at the police department, and then walked to an unmarked cruiser.
He spoke briefly to reporters while officers walked him to the police cruiser. He said he and the victim, Terrance Bonner, 18, of Charleston, had a lot of history.
A Facebook page for "Shaquille YoungSavage Burton" had a status update from about an hour after the shooting.
"its a jungle out here its all about gettin your stripes either get respect out of people or put fear in them give them one of the two reasons on why they shouldnt f- - - with you," the post read. Two people "liked" it.
When asked if the shooting was about respect, he replied "a little bit."
