CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A Clarksburg doctor has been convicted of 22 counts of health care fraud, bankruptcy fraud, identity theft and filing false tax returns.
U.S. Attorney William Ihlenfeld says a jury convicted 59-year-old Allen G. Saoud on Tuesday in federal court.
The jury found that Saoud schemed to circumvent his exclusion from Medicare and Medicaid to illegally obtain hundreds of thousands of dollars. It also found that he lied to a federal agent about his medical practice and testified falsely under oath about his medical practice.
Saoud faces a maximum of well over 100 years when he is sentenced, although federal sentencing guidelines will call for less.
