Head-on crash near Dunbar killed Putnam man, deputies investigating
Deputies are investigating after a Putnam County man was killed in a head-on collision near Dunbar Tuesday evening.
It happened at about 6:30 p.m. on West Washington Street near Kanawha County's state Department of Health and Human Resources office. Two vehicles collided head on, leaving the occupants of both vehicles pinned inside.
Cpl. Brian Humphreys, a spokesman for the Kanawha Sheriff's Department, said an occupant of one of the vehicles, Charles Chadwick Slater, 33, of Scott Depot, was pronounced dead at Charleston Area Medical Center's General Hospital.
Two people were in the other vehicle involved. Both went to local hospitals but were recovering Wednesday from non-life threatening injuries. The Kanawha Sheriff's Department's Motor Vehicle Accident Reconstruction Team is working to determine what caused the deadly crash.
