Cabell man faces time for child porn

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - A Cabell County man caught with more than 600 digital images of child pornography faces up to 20 years in federal prison.

Raymond Eugene Leake, 34, of Huntington, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography Tuesday in U.S. District Judge Robert Chambers' courtroom, according to a press release from U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin's office.

"We've taken another pedophile off the Internet," Goodwin said in the release.

Leake admitted he collected more than 600 pictures and videos of children having sex or performing sex acts. The pornography was found on his computer and was downloaded from the Internet.

"Pedophiles like Mr. Leake who download and trade images of child pornography over the Internet are perpetrating crimes that involve the exploitation of innocent children," Goodwin said. "I will be relentless in prosecuting them."

Leake faces a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 20 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced Oct. 7.

The West Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigated. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Rada handled prosecution.
