One teenager was killed and four more were injured in an accident off Hughes Creek Road early Friday, said Trooper B.A. Ward of the Quincy detachment of the West Virginia State Police.
The car veered off the road at 5211 Hughes Creek Road and hit a fence, took out a gas line, and struck a concrete stairwell, Ward said.
Colin Qualls, 16, died in the accident, he said. Four teenagers were transported to an area hospital for injuries but Ward did not have further information.
Sgt. Michael Baylous, State Police spokesman, said the driver of the car was Dustin Burkhardt, 18. The ages of the other three passengers were 18, 17 and 16.
Alcohol played a role in the accident and charges are pending, Baylous said."Charges will be forthcoming after the medical records," Baylous said.
