"Over tires? Let's get real," she said.
She said rumors have circulated for the last six months that county officials would be indicted by a grand jury. But until Thursday, nothing had come to fruition.
"You hear all kinds of rumors. I didn't think it would really happen," she said.
Crum stressed Baisden is still innocent until proven otherwise.
"Some people's already got him hanging to the cross," she said.
Crum became sheriff in April after her husband, the newly elected Sheriff Eugene Crum, was gunned down in front of the Mingo County Courthouse.
She said her office did not collaborate with State Police into charges against Baisden. Crum said she didn't ask anyone about the investigations, either.
"It's not any of my business," she said.
