Authorities said a Pennsylvania man wanted on federal charges attacked police officers to keep them from finding his hidden drugs.
Morgantown police went to the 200 block of Walnut Street Monday afternoon to investigate suspicious activity reported in the area. They found Stephan Bray, 29, of McKeesport, Pa., according to a statement by Morgantown police.
Bray gave officers several false names but officers were later able to identify him. They also found that he was a fugitive wanted by the U.S. Marshal's Office.
He was placed under arrest and taken to the Morgantown Police Department to be processed. There he slammed an officer against the booking room wall to keep police from finding heroin hidden on his body.
He also fought against two officers while trying to flush the hidden heroin down the toilet, the release said.
Officers were able to subdue him. They found 12 bindles of heroin on the floor in the processing room. A search of the sewer pipe turned up 35 bindles.
Bray was charged with malicious assault on law enforcement officers and possession of heroin with intent to deliver.
He is being held at North Central Regional Jail without bond.
