Eleanor fire chief dies in ATV crash
Eleanor Fire Chief Shane Jividen died Sunday after crashing his ATV in a fundraising event in Webster County, firefighters said.
Jividen, 36, of Eleanor had taken his ATV to Webster County Saturday to participate in a poker run to benefit the Webster County Volunteer Fire Department, said Assistant Chief David Turley.
The poker run was part of the Bergoo Bash, an annual event held near Bergoo to support the Webster County volunteers. During the poker run, motorcycle and ATV riders are to check in with people stationed along the course.
Jividen's ATV was found overturned over an embankment. He was flown to Charleston Area Medical Center's General Hospital with a severe head injury, Turley said.
Jividen died late Sunday afternoon at the hospital, Turley said.
The assistant chief did not know if any funeral plans had been made as of yet.
