Domestic violence is suspected in the case of a man and woman who were found shot dead in a Huntington area home Tuesday morning, State Police said.
Troopers were called to 6291 Division Road after a family member found the bodies of Barry Stewart, 31, and Kimberly Stines, 34, in a common area of their home, Sgt. Greg Losh said Tuesday afternoon. Both had apparent gunshot wounds.
The sergeant said a firearm was found in the home. It is believed to be the same weapon used in the shooting, he said.
The couple had an on-againoff- again relationship. Stines filed a domestic violence petition against Stewart in March but it was dropped recently, Losh said.
"We do have evidence that points to an isolated incident of domestic violence," Losh said.
Investigators believe the two had been dead for a few days before the bodies were found.
Members of the State Police Crime Scene Team were at the home for more than five hours Tuesday collecting evidence. The sergeant said investigators remain open-minded and are investigating all scenarios.
