CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A woman pleaded guilty in court Tuesday to a crime that involved the brutal torture of a Witcher Creek woman last year.
Cindy Creathers, 38, admitted that she and drug dealer Joey Keith Jeffrey, 44, drove Leanne Quinn to an isolated area where he threatened to kill her. Before that, she said Jeffrey beat, kicked and electrically shocked the victim until she was senseless.
In her testimony before Kanawha Circuit Judge Tod Kaufman, Creathers also mentioned another eastern Kanawha County woman who has been missing for seven years.
"We drove her up the mountain and he said to her, 'Do you remember Melanie Metheny?'" Creathers told the judge at her plea hearing. "'I'm going to put you in the same hole I put her in.'"
Metheny disappeared July 19, 2006, after she dropped her children off at day care. That case has never been solved.
Prosecutors said Jeffrey has been questioned in connection with it and is considered a person of interest.
Creathers said she, Jeffrey and Quinn were together doing drugs at a Kanawha City motel on Dec. 7. A dispute arose between Jeffrey and Quinn over items he believed she stole from his home.
Creathers said she and Jeffrey confronted Quinn, 33, and forcibly took her to his trailer. Creathers said Jeffrey beat the victim severely.
"He grabbed her by the hair and threw her on the floor," Creathers said. "He kicked her repeatedly with steel-toe boots. He shocked her with an electrical cord, he shot her in the neck with a needle.
"He hit her hands with something," she said. "He kicked her so much that she did not know where she was, or anything."
Creathers said she sat on the woman to keep her down, ripped jewelry off her and put it in her purse and gathered up drug paraphernalia into a garbage bag. She held a knife to the victim's throat as they drove away.
But she insisted that she was ordered by Jeffrey to do it all.
"He made her get out, made her take off her coat and shoes and told me to put them in the trash bag," she said.
