A pedestrian was struck early Wednesday by a tractor-trailer heading east along the 3100 block of Dupont Avenue in Dupont City near Belle, said Cpl. Brian Humphreys of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.
The accident occurred about 3 a.m. when the driver saw someone walking in the westbound lane. As he passed the pedestrian, something darted in front of his truck and he stopped the vehicle. He searched the area with a flashlight and found the pedestrian in a ditch along the road.
He was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was able to communicate.The driver had no signs of drug or alcohol use. Names of the driver and the victim were not being released on Wednesday morning.
