Alcohol may have played a role in a single-vehicle crash that killed two in Jackson County, State Police said.
Trooper W.F. Donohoe of the Ripley detachment responded just before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday to a single-vehicle crash on Jackson Rt. 56 near Green Hills Country Club.
Brian K. Hunt, 47, of Sandyville lost control of his 1997 Chevrolet Silverado and struck a tree on the side of the road, said Sgt. Michael Baylous, State Police spokesman.
Hunt's passengers, John E. Littell, 59, of Gandeeville and Wanda F. Simmons, 54, of Leroy died of their injuries. Baylous said Littell died at the scene and Simmons was taken to Charleston Area Medical Center's General Hospital where she died Wednesday.
Hunt was taken to Camden-Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg where he remains in critical condition, the sergeant said. Charges against him may be forthcoming, as troopers believe alcohol was involved in the crash.Troopers still are investigating.
