A call for help from a woman led law enforcement officers to a residence at 209A Broadway Avenue about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, said Dave Richardson, deputy chief of the police for the Nitro Police Department.
Officers were familiar with the address from past domestic situations, he said.
When officers arrived on the scene they could observe through the front window that the living room was in such disarray that it could indicate there had been a struggle. When they opened the unlocked door and announced their presence, a woman ran into the room and hid behind them as she cried, Richardson said. Her estranged partner, Larry Brown, was placed under arrest as soon as the officers saw him, Richardson said.
Officers were aware of an active domestic violence petition on file against Brown that was filed by the victim. The victim said Brown entered the residence uninvited, physically assaulted her several times and held her against her will for over an hour before she was able to call for help.Brown, 44, is lodged in South Central Regional Jail with bond set at $100,000. He is charged with kidnapping and burglary.
